On Sunday, March 6, 2022, Holy Cross Academy played Mother of Mercy Academy at Oakland Catholic in Pittsburgh, PA. Holy Cross won the game and the title of Pittsburgh Diocese Champions. This win advanced the girls to the state playoffs this weekend, March 11-13, 2022, at St. Joan of Arc School in Harrisburg, PA. Holy Cross Academy was formed in 2017 by the combination of Saint Sebastian Elementary School and Saint Teresa of Avila Elementary School, both in Ross Township, Pennsylvania, as part of the North Hills Catholic Elementary Schools Regionalization. Together, the two elementary schools have been educating young minds and souls for more than 160 years. While the names of the two schools have changed, what hasn't changed is the spiritual and academic foundation that has been the hallmark of both for generations. The Holy Cross Academy varsity girls basketball team has not been to the state championship since 1996. To celebrate the win and send well wishes to the team, Holy Cross Academy held a pep rally send-off on March 11, 2022 at their school. Students, faculty, and parents gathered with signs, cards, and cheers of “Lets Go Hawks!” as the girls boarded their bus to Harrisburg.
